This months rescue is a sad story.
I was phoned on sunday and asked if i could help take in 2 dragons that were no longer wanted, i was told they were a female and male breeding pair, Both very healthy, both livly.. etc..
well that was NOT the case..
When the dragons were dropped round at 10:30pm, the gentleman told me i could have them, and the viv, so being as late as it was i asked him to drop them by and i would look after them, and re-home them when i had them checked over.
when the young man left i got my cup of tea and headed up to my reptile room and check 2 viv's i had set -up earlier to make sure temp etc were o.k for the dragons to move into, all was o.k and i opened the box to witch i was shocked!
There was a bag of bones, shaking, and eyes closed, along with an adult female, dehydrated, cold, and also starved beyong belief..i nearly cryed!..
i took out the small female very cafully to witch the response was a limp dragon, no movement, no energy.. no nothing!, i took urgent action and guted some locus and crickets with some "NUTROBAL" mixed up into a wet pulp, and force feed her, this was so easy due to the fact she was on her last legs,
i then put her into the 3ft viv under her basking spot, she opened an eye and i let out a massive sigh!..
next was the adult female..she was not as bad, but by far not good!, she had sever "MBD" and was very under weight, and dehydrated, i 1st put her into a warm bath, to witch she drank from for 10min as i washed her, and gave her some attention, and the moved her into a new hot viv, she is sooo adorable, as she has no toes!, and bounces around her housing like bambi!..lol
anyway, thats all i could do for now, and i went to the garden and broke up the poor viv they had been using, and got it ready for collection in the morning..
After all this, week in week out, 3 weeks have passed, BOTH have had a full vet check, and are now Making an amazing increase in weight, and confidence.
